:: Book 4 on Track

Well, that's a wrap. The new year is coming up and, if I survive Christmas, I'll be seeing all of you in 2017. Thanks, everyone, for an amazing 2016! What's in store for next year? Tons.

The publication of issue 4 is on track for Valentine's. Check this site or the various social media haunts for details or notices. I'll also be returning to Ottawa Geek Market in March/April, CAPE in April, and Montreal ComicCon in July. And the selfie promo (to grab an exclusive lead-in-to-issue-1 story or a chance to win issue 4) is still going strong. But, as always, keep checking for more and more of what's going on.

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and see you soon!

— Liam Gibbs, already in 2017

:: Cohosting Book Shows

I have the dubious honour of cohosting not one but two book promotions/signings with fellow author and unstoppable writing machine, Michel Weatherall!

The first is this November 19th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Morning Owl Coffeehouse and Variety. The second is this December 17th from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Comet Comics. You can find more details at those links or on the Appearances page.

Get your books, get your books signed, sit down for some chitchat and a Q&A with two Ottawa authors, visit with some local Ottawa celebs (the list keeps changing, so I won't say who specifically here), and, best of all, win stuff! Yeah, that's right. I'll be offering two promos:

  1. Take a selfie holding the helmet of chief antagonist Master Asinine and post it on Facebook or Twitter with hashtag IAGFFA and at-sign me...and you'll get a URL to the next never-before-seen-and-awesome-if-I-do-say-so-myself installment in the Before They Were Famous stories, before it's released to the general masses! Who does this one feature? Well, take that selfie and find out.
  2. Buy a book at the event and post that selfie to Facebook or Twitter--same hashtag, same at-sign as above--and enter a draw to win a copy of the upcoming issue 4, Armageddon Trigger Finger, due out this Valentine's! Buy two books? Get two entries! Buy all three books? Score yourself four entries! (I know how to count. I'm just giving you guys a bonus.)

Michel Weatherall has a similar promo: take a selfie with his lifesize statue of Nyarlathotette and hashtag the good ol' baddie to score a free e-book download.

How's that for amazing deals? Check out the event's Facebook page for more details on the event.

We'll also be cohorting on an upcoming appearance at Comet Comics, but the details are still being hammered out. More on that in this space at a later date.

— Liam Gibbs, who's looking forward to all these events if it's the last thing I look forward to

:: New Interview

Pop on over to Tamikio L. Reardon's author site to read an interview of yours truly! I'm yours truly. That's--it's an expression. It means m--just go read it.

All for now.

— What's his face, who doesn't even have time to remember his name

:: FTP Problems (Resolved)

Phew. Okay. Sorry for the lack of updates lately. I was having troubles with the FTP connection to the site. If you're reading this, then you know the problem was all cleared up. You'll see below a bunch of posts I'd prepared but couldn't upload. Get crackin' on the updates. More to follow!

— Liam Gibbs, who needs a bit of rest and--zzzzzzzzzz.....

:: Updates on E-Book 1

Just an update on those contractual obligations I talked about on October 19th. There were some problems with the first issue's e-book file I've been sending to the people with the new contract. Some links in the e-book aren't working out. So I've put the e-book back on KDP for the time being until I can iron out these details with the file. So anybody looking to grab the first issue on Kindle, you can do so again. I'll update you once this new contract is a go-ahead.

— Liam Gibbs, who's still overjoyed he gets to say "contractual obligations" even though I didn't say it this time around

:: Hero Fest: Kingston

So, on October 29th (yesterday), I had the pleasure of exhibiting at Kingston Hero Fest. And I gotta say everyone in Kingston was more awesome than i even expected. Thanks so much to the organizers for putting it on, giving me a slot, and helping me get the series out to yet another city. Very encouraged to hear that there were some people attending that had said they'd heard of me! I was flabbergasted! Next stop, Hero Fest in Trenton this November 12th!

— Liam Gibbs, who's looking forward to the next Hero Fest in Trenton

:: E-book 1 Down

Sad to report that I had to take the e-book version of book 1 down from Amazon temporarily. This was in order to fulfill a contractual obligation with Amazon.

The good news is I took it down in order to enter a contract that will put the e-book up on more sites, including Amazon. Starting the contract up and making sure everything is a-okay will take some time, but this is a good move. If you want the e-book version of book 1, you can still contact me directly.

E-books for issues 2 and 3 are still available in their jolly old places. We're testing the waters with issue 1.

— Liam Gibbs, who's overjoyed he gets to say "contractual obligations"

:: IAGFFA Back With OGM

Wow. So the dust has settled from Ottawa Geek Market this past weekend, and I have to say this was one of my best shows yet! I got books out to dozens of people and almost fer-shoor-clinched issue 4's Valentine's release date! This comes as good news to you because you loyally love and follow everything I say and do with the series, and it's good news to me because you loyally love and follow everything I say and do with the series. I got to catch up with a lot of returning readers and I got to meet so many new people. Best of all? I always have a blast at Ottawa Geek Market, and this time was no different. I love going there. I love seeing the regulars (vistors, exhibitors, volunteers and staff). Everything about it is an unparalleled, unbridled experience of fun. If you missed out, don't worry: they'll/we'll be back in April for the beginning of OGM's sixth year. Check the OGM web site for dates and details when it becomes available.

As for upcoming appearances, be sure to check the appearances page for those details, but I'll be hanging with Pop Culture Canada in October, November, and December. So come visit, chew the fat, chew other edible things, and be sure to breathe now and again.

— Liam Gibbs, who'd take care of all the leaves on my lawn but I don't own a rake

:: More Updates

Hi all, so sorry for the delay between posts. Quick updates: check out the series' appearances coming up in the next few months on Facebook, but I will be posting the dates on this site when I get a chance.

More updates: just got done with Geeked Out yesterday and had a blast. Reconnected with some people I haven't seen for months and, best of all, got a day off of real life. Yeah!

Check me out at Chapters at SilverCity! Not only will you be able to grab yourself book 1 there, but as of the 1st of Soontober, you'll be able to get book 2! That's right, the peops at Chapters are clearing one of their consignment slots to make room for Home Sweet Home Invasion. All thanks to you guys who came out and took a copy home. (Please feed those copies, BTW. They're fussy when they're hungry.)

But what's been keeping me away? Well, I put issue 18 under wraps. For those who haven't heard, issue 18 is a big milestone for me, not 'cause it's equally divisible by six. No, it's because--and you'll remember this series is a reboot of a series I wrote in grade school and high school--this is the adaptation of the very first story in the original canon. Handed it off to some people. I'll see how it compares to the olden version. And I've been starting up the first draft of issue 19. So, yeah, I've been gone. But I've been gone for pretty good reasons!

But I won't be gone this long again...at least I hope. I've got some good things on the horizon. But I won't mention them now. Talk to you all soon.

— Liam Gibbs, who's binge-watching a bunch of different shows in succession, which is like meta-binge-watching (I transcend!)

:: Back From MCC 2016

Just got back from Montreal ComicCon, everybody! Time was awesome. Montreal was awesome (aside from the parking), and all the photos are on Facebook. Didn't get a photo of the event that came to be called The Splooge, but if you have questions, fire away. Ugh. But anyway...

The debut of issue 3 went off with a bang! Everybody--everybody--wanted to get in on a three-fer! I couldn't hand them out fast enough. Encouraging news for anyone looking to grab issue 4: the more issue 3 sells, the more I can get the funds to get issue 4 professionally checked out! This means I'm looking for a Valentine release for issue 4. Check back here for more updates as they come.

Anyway, I'm exhausted. Be back at you soon!

— Liam Gibbs, who isn't so much looking forward to the weekend as he is to sleep

:: Ottawa Book Fair

I'm back, everyone. I'm realizing how hard it is to keep every part of the web updated on the goings-on and crap-doodles of In a Galaxy Far, Far AwRy. Between Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, the mailing list, and this site, not to mention actually writing and selling the books, this is a lot for one man. Phewfff. Anyway....

Hopefully you guys are keeping track of the appearances the series is making. Next up, the Ottawa Book Fair. Yup, I'll be appearing at the Parkdale Market, books 1 and 2 in hand, to foist them off on unsuspecting fans! Join me this Saturday, June 11th, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and say hi!

— Liam Gibbs, who might need a few hours of sleep this month

:: At Chapters, Gloucester

Hey everyone. Just a reminder, if you have chance, to stop by Chapters at SilverCity tomorrow from 12 to 5. I'll be signing books and raising the dead. One of those is a lie. Come find out which.

— Liam Gibbs, who just might have reached his maximum genetic potenetial for delusion

:: Even More New Shows

I have a few things I want to mention today, a few things on the horizon.

First, the release of book 3, Technophobia, is coming along, and the expected release date is still a firm July 8 at Montreal Comiccon. Hope you got your tickets, 'cause I'm expecting to see you all there. Especially you, Wendell. You never show up to anything. :p

Second, I'm going to be back in the ByWard Market this summer! Four dates coming up between May and August: tentatively May 28, June 18, July 30, and August 20. Check this space often because that word tentatively is the only sure part of that sentence. I also plan to make some book fair appearances there on June 11 and August 11. But, like always, check this space closer to those dates to make sure things are still coming along.

Last, I'll be at Chapters (SilverCity area, right across the street from CSIS) for a book signing this Saturday, May 21st, from 12 to 5! Yup, that's right. If you're in the Ottawa area, come on out, grab a copy--the average buyer grabs a dozen, but I'll let it slide if you only want one--and I'll even put my jolly old name in that bad boy for you! The book is also on sale there this month, so if you can't make it out for the book signing, you can still get your book. Just ask the staff for the Alcove (they'll lead you to a section called "Local Interest", which is squeezed between the main aisle and Starbucks).

Come visit soon. And drop me a line!

— Liam Gibbs, who regrets not being able to make it for Ottawa Comiccon, but there's always next year

:: New Updates and New Shows

Say whut? Over two months since the last update. Yes. I know. For that, I apologize. It's been a combination of two things: (1) got very busy. More on that soon, and (2) the server on which I have my site had some problems in that I couldn't FTP updates up. It's been resolved recently.

Anyway, the busyness. There has been so much going on. First, not only have I released Franchise's story in Before They Were Famous, now you have Reef's! That's right: two preview stories, both leading into issue 1.

Next up, I have had a blast over the last couple months, first at Geeked Out in March, then Ottawa Geek Market in April, and then finally Cornwall Area Pop Event two weeks later. The organizers were great, the events were great, I had a blast, and that's all that counts. Definitely check this space for information on more appearances, 'cause I will be back at these events next time around if I have my way!

And the last bit of exciting news, the thing that's kept me away from this site the most...issue 3 will be coming at you in July! Yes, that's right. I plan to debut issue 3, Technophobia, at Montreal Comiccon in July. So come on out and say hi!

Anyway, I'll be back soon with more news and with some much-needed upates to the site. Promise it won't be as long a wait as last time. And don't forget to join me and the series on Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Google+, or wherever else you can find me.

— Liam Gibbs, everyone's (anti-)hero

:: New Before They Were Famous

Happy Valentine's Day, all you web people!

Want something short 'n' sweet to read this Valentine's? Howzabout a gift: the first of a series of Before They Were Famous stories, starring your favourite guy named Franchise, that guy named Franchise! Best part: it ties directly in with In a Galaxy Far, Far AwRy issue 1. So if you love Franchise's story, check out the bigger, badder, meaner story on Amazon.

Read this short story, pass it around, and love and adore it. And watch this space for more stories coming in these next few weeks and months as they're completed.

Oh, and enjoy your Valentine's gift from me!

— Liam Gibbs, a brain surgeon and rocket scientist as far as most of you know

:: Mini-Stories

Too long since I talked to you fine, fine audience that I figured I'd have to come say an excited hello and offer an exciting hello gift to go along with that hel--

Okay, I'll get on with it. The reason I've been so silent lately is I've been prepping your gift: some very tasty side stories for you! That's right, I'm writing some bite-sized early stories of your favourite goof-offs and incompetents to go along with the main course of books 1 and 2. In fact, these early stories tie in so well with issues 1 and 2 that they get underfoot! The best part? They're free, dude! Expect them right here in the coming weeks, with the first one any day now.

— Liam Gibbs, who never forgets his fans

:: Book 3 Preorders

Still looking for book 3? Wanna help out?

I'm currently looking into the option of taking preorders for book 3, Technophobia. Check out this site in the coming weeks to see how you can get your claws on this hilariously humorous and quite humorously hilarious piece of work, and how every preorder helps it come along that much faster.

Book 3. It's what's for breakfast.

Well, if you eat paper, it is.

— Liam Gibbs, who's kinda sorta hoping you don't eat paper

:: Upcoming Shows

Excited about In a Galaxy Far, Far AwRy this year? So am I.

You'll have another chance to come visit me face to face at Geeked Out, this March 12-13 at the Hazeldean Mall where I'll be laughing it up and shaking hands with anybody who comes within grabbable hugging distance from my booth. Be one of those people!

Geeked Out, March 12-13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hazeldean Mall. Drop by, grab some awesome stuff, and say hi. Visit http://www.geekedouttoys.com/ for more/all the details.

— Liam Gibbs, who's feeling a wee bit chilly at the moment

:: Happy New Year from IAGFFA

Merry Christmas, everyone. So sorry for no updates the last couple weeks, but with the holidays, it's been bonanza bananas!

And happy 2016 to all y'all. And happy 9108! On the heels of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, can In a Galaxy Far, Far AwRy book 3 be far behind? Check here for details in the next couple months, and clues in the coming weeks.

So what's kept me busy? Preparing publication for book 3, signing up for more expos to meet some amazing new people, and writing book 18. In case you don't know the series' background, what you're reading is a reboot. The series has roots in a little-known canon that I filed away on my computer to never be seen again. However, some of the stories are recycled in what you're reading now. And I'm rewriting one of those--the original book 1, the one that kicked everything off--right now into the new canon! Very excited to see some old protagonists and antagonists I haven't used in, literally, decades.

— Liam Gibbs, juiced up over meeting underused and much missed characters
